A magnitude 6.3 earthquake occurred in the Hualien area at 2:32 a.m. yesterday. The epicenter was in Shoufeng Township, Hualien County, with a depth of 6 kilometers. The maximum magnitude was 5 in Hualien, 4 in Taichung, Yilan, and Nantou, and 3 in Miaoli and Shuangbei. It also affected many people. The sleeping people were shaken awake.
Shortly after the earthquake, Xiao Hongren posted on Facebook: “Did the national alert not save my number?” and attached a shy crying face symbol. A female fan left a message: “The sound will only sound if it is level 4 or above.” Unexpectedly, Xiao Hongren pressed “angry”, which made her very puzzled. The Central Meteorological Administration pointed out that the Earthquake Disaster Warning (PWS) has detected an earthquake with magnitude 5 or above in Taiwan and its surrounding waters, and it is estimated that at least one county and city government is located in a magnitude 5 or above earthquake, which will target areas with magnitude 4 or above. People with 4G mobile phones sent earthquake warning messages. If the magnitude of the earthquake reaches 5.0 or above, and the estimated earthquake intensity in any county or city reaches above 3, an earthquake warning will be broadcast through TV stations.
