(Central News Agency reporter Zhang Rongxiang, Tainan, 24th) Tainan City has built a “smart roadside parking billing system”. According to city government statistics, 87% of roadside paid parking spaces are smart, saving 3.81 million parking paper receipts every year, and another system will be built. The smart parking cloud data platform provides parking information and effectively reduces carbon dioxide emissions.

The Transportation Bureau of the Tainan City Government issued a press release today stating that Tainan City’s roadside paid parking spaces have been constructing smart parking spaces one after another since the Republic of China. Among the 15,000 roadside paid parking spaces, 4,000 smart parking columns and geomagnetic detection have been completed. There are 9,000 detectors, and the smart roadside grid ratio is 87%, ranking highest in the country.

The Transportation Bureau stated that since the launch of Tainan City’s smart roadside parking billing system, the turnover rate of parking spaces has increased by 69% and the utilization rate has increased by 59%, effectively reducing the waste of vacant parking spaces. The smart roadside parking billing system also provides on-site payment services, and the proportion of parking fees paid on-site is about 40%. This saves 3.81 million paper parking tickets every year, which is equivalent to reducing 4.5 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

Tainan City has also built a smart parking cloud data platform that integrates various smart technology devices to collect parking information. It provides real-time parking information, parking guidance, parking space prediction and other services through the “Tainan Hao Stop APP”, helping people save an average of 4 minutes. The time spent searching for a parking space is reduced to 6 minutes. In the past three years, the accumulated carbon emissions from vehicle detours have been reduced by 1,070 metric tons, and traffic congestion and air pollution have been reduced.

In addition, Tainan City’s diversified payment channels have replaced the previous supermarket collection and cash at the counter, saving 17.48 million payment receipts in the past three years, which translates to a reduction of 21.8 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

Transportation Secretary Wang Mingde said that in line with the “Taiwan 2050 Net Zero Emissions” policy and in response to the rapid increase in electric vehicles and derived charging demand around the world, the city government worked with private manufacturers to integrate “smart roadside parking metering columns” and “charging piles” to innovatively build “Smart roadside charging parking posts” have been installed, and 43 of them have been completed so far. Electric vehicle owners can replenish power when parking, promoting the net-zero transformation. (Editor: Huang Shiya) 1130424
