(Central News Agency reporter Cai Mengyu, Kaohsiung, 24th) Kaohsiung National Stadium (the main venue of the World Games) has attracted many well-known domestic and foreign singers and groups to hold concerts in recent years. Kaohsiung city government officials said that “sustainable concerts” are a mainstream trend and can accommodate The Kaohsiung National Stadium, which seats over 10,000 people, is environmentally friendly and sustainable, which is the key to its popularity.

Kaohsiung City is striving to improve its concert economy. According to recent city government statistics, the number of concerts in Kaohsiung this year will exceed last year. There will be at least 120 large-scale concerts with more than 1,000 people, and many more are under negotiation.

Kaohsiung City Government officials revealed today that the key to winning the favor of well-known singers and groups at home and abroad is that the Kaohsiung National Stadium is the only environmentally friendly and sustainable venue with a capacity of over 10,000 people in Taiwan.

Officials from the Kaohsiung City Government said that the Kaohsiung National Stadium had already grasped the future international trends during its planning and construction. Not only is it the only venue in Taiwan that can accommodate 50,000 people, it is also environmentally friendly, sustainable and green energy-friendly. It is built with the purpose of becoming the only venue with tens of thousands of people in Taiwan that has won the Green Building Gold Label.

The venue itself is like a generator. There are 8,844 solar panels on the roof. It generates 1.1 million kilowatt-hours of electricity throughout the year and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 660 tons annually. This means that during the operation of the venue, it can generate electricity for its own use and even use it as electricity. The excess electricity is sold to Taipower. According to 2022 data, 410,000 kWh was sold.

In addition, the venue is also equipped with a rainwater recycling system, which collects rainwater from the roof and grassland into a rainwater storage tank with a capacity of 13,000 tons. It can be used for greening irrigation, reducing the burden on the reservoir and achieving the goal of environmental sustainability.

Gao city government officials said that “sustainable concerts” are a mainstream trend. Industry insiders revealed that the current music industry has a very clear attitude towards carbon reduction, and even the British Association of Independent Music (AIM) and the British Phonographic Label Association (BPI) Launched the “Music Industry Climate Pact” to commit to reducing carbon emissions and gradually achieving net-zero sustainability.
