Kaohsiung City’s Xinxing District suffered an explosion and power outage early this morning due to an underground cable failure. Smoke came from the manhole cover at the accident site. Many people were awakened from their sleep and went to the street to check. A member of the public said that the power went out after hearing a loud noise, and ran to the street to see smoke coming from the manhole cover. Taipower said that an underground cable fault caused a power outage to a total of 420 households in Bohai Street, Kaifeng Road, Zhongzheng 3rd Road, Minzu 2nd Road and other areas. After 50 minutes of emergency repairs, all power was restored at 4:04.

Kaohsiung City’s Xinxing District experienced a power outage without warning at 3 a.m. today, and explosions were heard due to underground cable faults. The Kaohsiung District Sales Office of Taiwan Electric Power Company issued a message stating that it received a report of power outage in Bohai Street, Kaifeng Road, Zhongzheng 3rd Road, Minzu 2nd Road and other areas in Xinxing District, Kaohsiung City at 3:12 a.m. today. Taiwan Power Company immediately sent personnel to handle it. After investigation, It was caused by an underground cable failure. Emergency repair personnel isolated the accident point at 4:04 and restored normal power supply.

Taipower’s Kaohsiung District Sales Office stated that it was deeply sorry for the inconvenience caused by this accident. In order to speed up the restoration of power, all available manpower was used, and a total of three teams of emergency repair personnel went to the accident site for emergency repairs. Because of the emergency repairs at night, the emergency repair personnel must overcome the unclear vision during the work process, isolate the fault point as quickly as possible, transfer the power supply and complete the power restoration.
