“Cold Current” is a three-channel simulcast series produced by China Film and Television in 1975. It set many records in Taiwan, including the first self-produced series, the first three-channel simulcast, and the first Hokkien and Hakka dubbing.
“Cold Current” has a total of 60 episodes, narrating the development of the Chinese Communist Party. The drama spans from the cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party in 1925 to the April 5 Tiananmen Incident in 1976.
Due to the vivid characters in the play, the vast scenes of explosive warfare, and the superb acting skills of the actors, it received high ratings at the time and aroused social discussion.
After the broadcast of the series, China Film edited the “Cold Wave” series into a 2-hour movie version of “Fragrant Flowers and Poisonous Weeds”. It participated in the 13th Golden Horse Awards and won the “Special Award for the Most Significant Expression of the Times”. In the film, he played the villain Gao Yang. Chang Feng also won the Best Actor award.
