The Tainan City Government plans to promote the development of a green energy industrial park in Rende. The Ministry of Environment held an environmental impact assessment meeting on the 24th. The Environmental Protection Committee believed that the project still had problems such as destroying the habitats of protected species and rare animals and exacerbating flooding in adjacent areas. It was determined that should not be developed. In this regard, Lin Rongchuan, director of the Municipal Economic Development Bureau, said that he respects the resolution of the environmental assessment committee members. In the face of many industry reports that they need industrial land, the Economic Development Bureau will still select other locations or alternative plans and continue to promote them.

Tainan City Green Energy Industrial Park has previously undergone four preliminary environmental assessments. The fourth conclusion was that the Environmental Commission “recommended that it should not be developed.” On the 24th, the Ministry of Environment held an environmental assessment meeting, and the Environmental Commission determined that the project should not be developed.

Lin Rongchuan pointed out that the area has actually met the 25-year protection level and will not be flooded. Development behavior has been taken into account in the analysis and will not cause flooding in adjacent areas. However, due to climate change factors, even if it is not developed, Flooding will also occur, so respect the resolutions of the environmental impact assessment committee members.

Lin Rongchuan said that the Nanshi Green Energy Industrial Park plan is expected to add 6,000 job opportunities, attract an investment of 11 billion, and create an annual output value of 22 billion. The Municipal Economic Development Bureau will still choose other locations. Or alternative, keep pushing.

The Economic Development Bureau said that currently most public opinion supports the development, and many businesses have also reported the need for industrial land. The Bureau will continue to provide local opinions to the review unit to let the committee members know the true opinions of actual residents.
