The city government’s Transportation Bureau said that in the face of the climate crisis and the trend of net-zero carbon emissions, Tainan has set short-, medium-, and long-range net-zero goals and paths, and a goal of 100% intelligent on-street parking spaces. The Transportation Bureau stated that Tainan was the first city in the country to enact the low-carbon concept into law and to establish Taiwan’s first smart roadside parking billing system. Currently, 87% of the city’s roadside paid parking systems are smart, ranking first in the country. crown.

Nanshi’s smart roadside parking billing system saves 3.81 million paper parking receipts every year, which is equivalent to reducing 4.5 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. It also sets up a smart parking cloud data platform to help drivers reduce five to six minutes of searching for empty parking spaces. Time, in the past three years, the cumulative reduction of carbon emissions from vehicle detours has been 1,070 tons, effectively reducing traffic congestion and air pollution.

There are 15,000 roadside paid smart parking spaces, 4,000 smart parking posts and 9,000 geomagnetic detector seats, for a total of 13,000 seats, a ratio of 87%, ranking first in the country.

Since the relevant billing system was launched, it has increased the parking turnover rate by 69% and the utilization rate by 59%, reducing the waste of vacant parking spaces. It also provides on-site payment services, with 40% of people paying on-site, paperless automatic billing, and real-time information. Reduce vehicle detour time and comply with SDG11 “Sustainable Cities and Communities” standards.

In addition, diversified payment channels have replaced the past supermarket collection and cash charges at the counter. In the past three years, 17.48 million payment receipts have been saved, and carbon dioxide emissions have been reduced by 21.8 tons.

Taiwan has proposed a 2050 net-zero emission policy.
