nowAt about 7:38 in the morning on April 20, 2018, an energetic woman named Lai in her 80s lost her way because she was used to getting up early for a walk. Fortunately, officers Yu Peiyu and Qiu Junrong from the Wenzheng Police Station of the Second Branch of the Zhongshi Police Department extended a helping hand in time, allowing her little adventure to have a warm ending and she returned to her Pingtung folks.

This old Hakka woman surnamed Lai from Neipu, Pingtung, accidentally got separated from the group while participating in the Nantou Three Mountains King Incense Group. After walking alone near Wuquan Road, she accidentally walked into a hotel that was not where she was staying. As the tour bus was about to leave at 8 o’clock to continue the tour, she became anxious. Fortunately, she met police officer Yu Peiyu. Not only were the remaining members of the Hakka family, but they also talked to the woman in friendly Hakka dialect, which relieved her anxiety. This warm conversation not only brought them closer to each other, but also made the old woman in a foreign land feel at ease. At the same time, police officer Qiu Junrong observed a tour bus not far away. It was confirmed that the bus was Lai’s team.

Accompanied by two police officers, Lai quickly returned to her team. At the moment of reunion, she not only felt extremely happy, but also expressed her deep gratitude to the police officers. She and her team members expressed their infinite gratitude to the Taichung police for their timely help.

Zhou Junming, the Second Branch Chief of the Taichung City Government Police Department, reminded that young and old alike should clearly remember their accommodation location when traveling and carry a mobile phone with them so that they can seek help in time when they get lost or encounter an emergency to ensure their own safety. This incident not only shows the professionalism and friendliness of the police, but also proves once again that in Taichung, no matter where you are from, the police are your most reliable friends and guardians.
