Kaohsiung was hit by a severe thunderstorm early this morning. Not only did road trees collapse and roads and bridges accumulate water, but electric poles were also struck by lightning in Luzhu District, causing lines to be disconnected, triggering a blackout along Datong Road and Zhongshan Road in the area. 2,402 households were without power for a time. However, hundreds of households in Okayama, Hunei and other areas also suffered power outages due to bamboo contact.
Taipower said that due to heavy rain this morning, a total of 3,266 households were without power in Luzhu, Gangshan, Hunei and other areas. By noon, power had been restored to 3,087 households, leaving 179 households without power.
The Gao City Water Conservancy Bureau said that this wave of rainfall was heavier at the Gangshan gauging station in the plain area, with a cumulative rainfall of 71 mm, and in the mountainous area, the rain was heavier at the Liugui gauging station, with a cumulative rainfall of 20.5 mm. The maximum rainfall is 52mm in Gangshan District, and the rainfall time is mainly from 6 to 9 am today.
