Taiwanese contemporary jewelry creators Zhao Yonghui, Xie Minling, and Qiu Huiyu have been invited for the first time and will be among the works from many countries. Showcasing Taiwan’s unique craftsmanship and design aesthetics.

MAD was founded in 1956 and is famous for its craft and design exhibits. It is the only museum in the United States that has opened an exhibition hall for special jewelry exhibitions and collections of jewelry. MAD Jewelry Exhibition (MAD About Jewelry) enters its 24th edition and will present contemporary jewelry designs by 50 creators from 20 countries. The exhibition period is from May 4th to 8th.

Exhibition Director Bryna Pomp was invited to participate in an exhibition held by the National Taiwan Crafts Research and Development Center in its New York office last year and was deeply impressed by Taiwanese crafts. The Taipei Cultural Center in New York subsequently contacted MAD and facilitated MAD’s invitation to the exhibition.

“This annual exhibition provides a unique opportunity for creators and audiences to meet and discuss inspiration, creative process and craftsmanship face-to-face. I am very pleased to invite Taiwanese creators to participate in the exhibition this time,” Pomp said in a press release from the Newark Center.

Zhao Yonghui teaches at the Institute of Applied Arts, National Tainan University of the Arts. In recent years, he has used corrugated iron materials in his creations to express the familiar yet fantastic special materials in life in another way. She has been selected for the Itami International Jewelry Exhibition in Japan, and her works have been exhibited in Taipei, New York, Japan and other places.

Xie Minling majored in sculpture in college and studied contemporary jewelry creation in Germany for 6 years. After returning to Taiwan, he created his own brand of Mano slow trowel. He used jade to create works and combined them with silverware. He used “subtraction” to transform the cold and hard metal into a light existence. He has participated in contemporary craft exhibitions held in Taiwan, Japan, Germany and other countries.

Qiu Huiyu graduated from the Fine Arts Department of National Taiwan Normal University and the Metalworking and Jewelry Creation Group of the Institute of Applied Arts of Tainan University of the Arts. She has won awards in the National Metal Craft Competition and the Kaohsiung County Fengyi Art Exhibition. She has participated in exhibitions in Taiwan, Spain, Portugal, France and other countries.
