(Central News Agency reporter Liu Qianling, Taipei, 26th) In order to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the promulgation of the Patent Law, the Intellectual Property Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs will hold a special exhibition of the Corridor of Time from today. In addition to displaying old patent files, it also displays the work of Shi, the inventor of non-volatile memory. This was the first Taiwanese invention to overcome the environmental problems caused by wafer manufacturing at the time and help improve the manufacturing yield of subsequent laser diodes.

The Intelligence Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs held a master’s speech today to celebrate World Intellectual Property Day. Smart Director Liao Chengwei, former Justice Yuan Justice Cai Mingcheng, Supreme Administrative Court President Chen Guocheng, and Industrial Technology Research Institute Vice President and Legal Affairs Wang Pengyu attended the meeting. .

At the same time, the Wisdom Bureau also held a special exhibition of the Time Corridor. In addition to displaying old patent files, it also exhibited Shi Min’s first Taiwan invention. The mottled file contained Shi Min’s autograph on the invention patent application.

The Wisdom Bureau explained that the technology in this application was to overcome the environmental problems caused by the toxic hydrogen chloride gas used to make semiconductor wafers at that time, and to improve the flatness of the wafer surface, which would help improve the yield of subsequent laser diode manufacturing.

Shi Min passed away in November last year. He was a world-renowned semiconductor scholar. As a representative of “semiconductor element physics”, he is a classic in the field of modern engineering and applied sciences and is known as the “Bible of the Semiconductor Industry”. At the same time, the “floating gate memory” invented by Shi Min is widely used in electronic products such as mobile phones, tablet computers, digital cameras, and global positioning systems, promoting the revolutionary development of information storage.

The Wisdom Bureau stated that Taiwanese companies occupy an important position in the global industrial chain, especially the semiconductor industry, which leads the world. More than 60% of advanced process production capacity is provided by Taiwan. To ensure such a strong industrial competitive advantage, the patent system plays a key role.

The Wisdom Bureau pointed out that a good patent system can not only protect R&D results and promote industrial development, but also enhance national competitiveness. In recent years, foreign capital has come to Taiwan to set up factories and invest, and they have been more active in setting up R&D centers, which also represents the recognition of Taiwan’s patent system.

In addition, the Smart Bureau issued a special volume with the title “80th Anniversary of the Promulgation of the Patent Law”, inviting Cai Mingcheng, Chen Guocheng, Wang Pengyu, and Smart Bureau employees to write articles on patent legal system, examination practice, patent litigation and industrial patent strategy application.
