A 7-seater SUV crashed and rolled over on the Beishan section of Provincial Highway 14, and the driver died in hospital – Society – Liberty Times e-newsletter

[Reporter Tong Zhenguo/Report from Nantou]On Route 14 of Beishan Village, Guoxing Township, Nantou County, heading towards Puli, near the Guanyin No. 2 Tunnel, a 7-seater Hyundai SUV rolled over after hitting the guardrail at around 10 a.m. The driver was 43 years old The man surnamed Wu was trapped in the car. He showed no signs of life when rescued by the Guo fire brigade. He was sent to Puli Christian Hospital where first aid failed and he was pronounced dead at 1 p.m. The detailed cause of the accident will be clarified by further investigation by the police.

It is understood that the man surnamed Wu finished work at around 10 a.m. and drove a 7-seater SUV from Guoxing Township back to Puli Town. He was passing Provincial Highway 48.5K near the entrance of Guanyin No. 2 Tunnel. The vehicle hit the roadside guardrail and lost control. The car rolled over and the car was lying on the road. A passing driver noticed the accident and reported it. Police officers from Beishan Police Station of Puli Branch, members of the National Fire Brigade, and machinery went to the rescue.

The police arrived at the scene. After the vehicle rolled over, the driver’s seat was underneath. The 43-year-old driver surnamed Wu was trapped inside. There were no other passengers. He had lost consciousness, breathing and heartbeat. After being rescued, CPR was immediately performed and he was sent to Puli Christian Hospital for emergency treatment. However, First aid failed and he was pronounced dead at about 1 p.m. The police will review the driving recorder and other relevant footage to further investigate and clarify the detailed cause of the accident.
