Tainan City Councilor Chen Kunhe is concerned about the issue of solar photovoltaics. He said that the green energy quota allocated to Tainan City by the central government in 2025 is 3.25 GW, and in 2030 it will be 4.5 GW. Tainan City has so far reached 4.3 GW, but green energy industry players continue to plant During the call, he told Mayor Huang Weizhe that the green energy industry’s planting of electricity in Dabeimen District has caused public resentment. Now that Tainan City has reached the quota required by the central government, it should put on the brakes quickly and stop when enough is enough.
City Councilor Chen Kunhe said that the green energy quota allocated to Tainan City by the central government in 2025 is 3.25 GW and 4.5 GW in 2030. However, when he asked the general question in November last year, the city government responded that the green energy quota granted to Tainan City was 3.8GW. When questioned again in May this year, Tainan’s green energy quota that met the standard was actually 4.3GW. The green energy quota granted by Tainan City exceeds the quota, but the city government still allows operators to grow electricity. Does Mayor Huang Weizhe want to be a model student?

Chen Kunhe said that the reason for the shooting today is that the government hastily approved the license on the grounds of “2025 non-nuclear homeland”, and the industry hastily planted electricity and hurriedly moved money to the bank. There are rumors that the underworld covets the interests of electricity cultivation for 20 years, and after planting the electricity, they will move the money to the bank. In the 107th year of the Republic of China, the cost of planting electricity per hectare was about 100 million yuan, and the operators borrowed 80 million yuan from banks, but the cost could be solved with 60 million yuan, which means that the operators could make a profit of 20 million yuan per hectare. The more electricity is grown and the more money is transferred from the bank, the industry is not focusing on the 20-year profit from selling electricity.
Chen Kunhe reminded the city government not to “break the bowl due to food shortages”. The central government has stipulated the amount of green power plants in Tainan City, and it should abide by the rules. He said that only Yunlin County and Tainan City in Taiwan should be competing for the title of the capital of photovoltaics. Yunlin only had the opportunity to develop solar photovoltaics because the coastal aquaculture industry over-extracted groundwater, causing serious land subsidence.
Chen Kunhe said that Tainan City does not have such a situation. Places that are not conducive to farming are engaged in fish farming and produce high-quality Taiwanese sea bream. Unfortunately, because land is cheap, landowners would rather rent out electricity for farming than farming. Tainan City’s actual power generation quota has seriously exceeded the central government’s regulations, but the city government has not stepped in to stop it.

Chen Kunhe said that Taipower’s internal data shows that hydrogen power generation will be in place by 2040, or even as early as 2030. By then, Tainan has so much solar photovoltaic plants now, and it may become waste in the future. Who will take care of it? Now that Tainan City has reached the quota required by the central government, he advised Huang Weizhe to apply the brakes quickly and stop when enough is enough.
