After Taichung Haozhai has won many awards, Beitun District’s Shanguang Haozhai once again won the International Federation of Landscape Architects, Asia Pacific Region (IFLA APR) Landscape Award for Residential Landscape Award. The Urban Development Bureau of the Taichung City Government expressed its gratitude to the committee members for their affirmation. The city government team will continue to work hard to create a livable city with Mayor Lu Xiuyan’s architectural aesthetics, residential functions and coexistence with nature.

The Metropolitan Development Bureau pointed out that the International Association of Landscape Architects was founded in 1948 and has organized global landscape architecture competitions for more than 20 years. It is the most internationally credible world landscape competition in the world. The awards can be called the “Oscars of the landscape industry.” Every year, the Association carefully The buildings and spaces that have brought value to the field of environmental landscape have been selected for their impact and positive results. An award ceremony was recently held in Tokyo, Japan. Beitun District’s Nostalgic Shanguang Hao House is the only public sector residential building landscape award-winning case in Taiwan. It’s not easy.

The Metropolitan Development Bureau explained that during the planning and design stage of Beitun District’s Shanguang Haohao Residence, it listened to local voices and worked with citizen tree protection groups to preserve the ecological environment such as local old trees and incorporate them into the landscape design to create a building that is in harmony with nature. The Triangular Park, which coexists with each other, is open to the surrounding neighbors as recreational space, and establishes a friendly environment with the local community, so it can be recognized by this award. In addition, the 220 social housing units of Shanguang Haozhai were completed in September last year. It is the first social housing completed in Beitun District and has also become an important landscaped recreational community for residents and surrounding neighbors.

The Metropolitan Development Bureau added that currently the total number of housing units built in Taichung is about 7,370. Mayor Lu has pushed the number of units built in the second phase to more than 10,000. In addition, the central government is expected to build 8,000 units in the future.
