(Central News Agency reporter Zeng Zhiyi, Taipei, 24th) As the front hits, the recent rainfall benefits of reservoirs across Taiwan are estimated to be 41.14 million tons. Among them, the central reservoirs have benefited the most, with Liyutan Reservoir leading the way with revenue exceeding 10 million tons. The Water Resources Department pointed out that even if part of the rainfall does not occur in the catchment area, the increase in field water will still indirectly help reservoir storage. For example, the agricultural water supply of Shimen Reservoir has been suspended.

Officials from the Water Resources Department said that the rainfall in the past three days is estimated to have brought more than 40 million tons of water to reservoirs across Taiwan. Among them, the central reservoirs benefited the most because the frontal cloud and rain bands stayed in the central part for a long time, while the northern part received a slight increase; according to meteorological data The Department of Water Resources predicts that rainfall is likely to occur until the 26th. The Department of Water Resources will pay close attention and carry out artificial rainfall enhancement as appropriate.

According to statistics from the Water Resources Department, from 7 a.m. on April 22 to 4 p.m. today, the Feicui Reservoir, Shimen Reservoir, Baoshan Baoer and other northern reservoirs recorded a total of 16.1 million tons. The central reservoirs were the most profitable, with rainfall benefits estimated at 24.5 million tons. Among them, Liyutan Reservoir ranked first with 10.4 million tons, followed by Deji Reservoir with 6.8 million tons.

The southern reservoirs received limited revenue, with Lantan, Renyitan, Zengwen and Wushantou reservoirs receiving a total of 500,000 tons. The total rainfall inflow to the reservoirs in the northern, central, southern and outlying islands is estimated to be 41.14 million tons, which will slowly enter the reservoirs in the next few days.

Officials pointed out that even if part of the rainfall occurs on flat land rather than in catchment areas, it will still indirectly help reservoir storage. For example, recent rainfall has increased the amount of water in fields, and Shimen Reservoir has suspended the supply of agricultural irrigation water, about 700,000 tons per day.

Taking stock of the water storage situation of Taiwan’s reservoirs, the water storage rate of Xinshan Reservoir in the northern region is 96.1%, the Jade Reservoir water storage rate is 66%, the Shimen Reservoir water storage rate is 24.3%, and the Baoshan Second Reservoir has a water storage rate of 29.8%; major reservoirs in the central region such as Liyutan The water storage rates of the , Deji and Sun Moon Lake reservoirs are 35.2%, 55.8% and 86% respectively.

The water storage rate of Wushantou Reservoir in the south is 77.7%, the water storage rate of Zengwen Reservoir is 34.5%, and the water storage rate of Nanhua Reservoir is 25.7%. (Editor: Yang Lanxuan) 1130424
