ASUS today announced two other members of the ROG Phone 6 series, named ROG Phone 6D and 6D Ultimate. The “D” here refers to MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000+ processor, which is one of the very few flagship gaming phones on the market that uses the Dimensity processor. Dimensity 9000+ is an octa-core processor and uses TSMC’s 4nm process, with a large core clock peak of 3.2GHz. According to ASUS’s own tests, the GPU in the Dimensity 9000+ is not as good as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, but its CPU score is said to surpass the latter, plus faster LPDDR5X memory to further improve overall performance.
In terms of appearance, the ROG Phone 6D series is similar to the earlier ROG Phone 6 series, except that the “Aviation Titanium Gray” color is used. However, ROG Phone 6D Ultimate hides a secret: it has an “AeroActive Portal” design in the top center of the back when it is held horizontally. This cooling valve is usually tightly closed. It will only be opened when the “AeroActive Cooler 6” kit of the ROG Phone 6 series is connected, and it just docks with the air outlet of the fan. This allows the wind from the fan to be “directly sent” to the liquid temperature plate inside the phone. According to Asus, this can increase the heat dissipation efficiency of the phone by about 20% and cool it down by about 10 degrees Celsius, allowing the phone to maintain a comparable body temperature in games. temperature.
Relying on the zirconium alloy hinge and experience on the previous Flip version of the Zenfone, ASUS claims that the valve can withstand up to 40,000 openings and closings, and has a drop detection function that can automatically close the valve when the phone flies out. When the valve is closed, the ROG Phone 6D Ultimate maintains an IPX4 life waterproof rating.
In other specifications, ROG Phone 6D / 6D Ultimate are also comparable to ROG Phone 6 / 6 Pro, including 6.78-inch AMOLED panel with 165Hz refresh rate, 6,000mAh battery, 65W fast charge, ultrasonic AirTriggers on-board keys, etc. . Both also use a triple-mirror combination of a 50MP primary mirror, a 13MP ultra-wide-angle mirror, and a 5MP macro mirror. In addition to the cooling valve, the 6D Ultimate also has a ROG Vision display design behind it, and compared with the Phone 6 / 6 Pro, the 6D / 6D Ultimate is equipped with faster LPDDR5X memory.
ROG Phone 6D Ultimate is 16GB memory + 512GB storage space, and comes with an aerodynamic fan 6, an Aero exclusive protective case and a 65W fast charging charger. The suggested price is NT$37,990 / HK$10,298.
The ROG Phone 6D has slightly different specifications in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Hong Kong is 12GB memory + 512GB storage space, while Taiwan is 16GB memory + 256GB storage space. Only the Aero exclusive protective case and 65W fast charging charger (without fan) are included, and the suggested retail price is NT$29,990 / HK$7,998.
In addition, Taiwan has also launched a special limited edition of ROG Phone 6 Batman. This is based on ROG Phone 6D (it’s not 6D Ultimate…?), in addition to adding Batman’s exterior design elements, there is also a full set of design theme packs including dynamic wallpapers, app icons, animations, sound effects, etc. , and in the box there is an exclusive Batman-shaped protective case, SIM card needle, and a small “Batman signal projection lamp”, which can project two different patterns.
The ROG Phone 6 Batman Edition is a 12GB + 256GB configuration, limited to 800 sets in Taiwan, priced at NT$35,990.
