The epicenter was located at 25.81 degrees north latitude and 126.03 degrees east longitude, which is 437.4 kilometers east of Keelung City Hall. The earthquake depth was 36.3 kilometers. The maximum earthquake intensity was level 1 in Yilan and level 1 in Hualien. When the earthquake struck, many people received a text message pushing a national alert at 9:23 p.m.
