Since Apple launched Vision Pro Surgeons have been experimenting with this new device since the introduction of the head-mounted device. According to foreign media reports, Brazilian orthopedic surgeon Bruno Gobbato successfully used the Vision Pro headset to perform surgery on a patient with a torn rotator cuff (also known as rotator muscle tear).
Dr. Bruno Gobbato of Jaraguá Hospital in Brazil told MacMagazine magazine that he used Apple Vision Pro to perform shoulder arthroscopic surgery for rotator muscle tears.
Dr. Bruno Gobbato said that shoulder arthroscopic surgery requires the use of a camera lens inside the joint, and the surgeon performs the surgery by looking directly at a screen. With this device, I can view images on the screen at high resolution while viewing the patient’s exam and 3D model in real time.
Dr. Bruno Gobbato praised the dynamic range of Apple Vision Pro. During surgery, bright lights in the operating room illuminate the area where surgery is being performed, which can cause other areas to become too dark. But in fact, the performance of Apple Vision Pro made him no longer worried about this.
Dr. Bruno Gobbato also shared a video showing how he can easily browse notes, patient X-rays, and instant photography footage while using Vision Pro. A few years ago, he used Microsoft HoloLens during surgery.
However, Dr. Bruno Gobbato is not the first doctor to use Apple Vision Pro to operate. Apple previously introduced the Vision Pro App in detail in March 2024 to assist knee and hip surgeries on the machine. Previously, a British neurosurgeon also Spine surgery using Vision Pro.
