In the competition for generative AI, even though Microsoft is “more than a few steps” ahead of Google – it can really be said that it is putting all its efforts into using its Bing/Copilot AI in all corners, including Office and even the Edge browser. I just hope to make my opponent dance (it’s true love)!

However, as Bard has evolved to have the ultra-flexible Gemini AI that can be installed directly on Android phones, people can see the fierce counterattack of Google’s huge ecosystem. But it’s clear that this is just the beginning.

Previously, we have discovered from various signs that Google’s layout for closer integration of its own generative AI, including “music service” and “search engine”. Recently, it was discovered that they may be preparing to use their own Chrome browser to bring more friendly generative AI-related functions, so that more users can quickly enjoy the convenience brought by Gemini.

By digging into the relevant features of the Chrome Canary test version, foreign media discovered that Google’s browser development team seems to be testing an experience that can quickly and intuitively start chatting with Gemini AI directly from the address bar in the browser using “@gemini”. If this Flag function is enabled, you will find that when entering text in the address bar, the following string of prompt text will appear:

“Type @gemini to Chat with Gemini”

In fact, similar functions can be played in the Arc browser, the AI-friendly browser we have played before – as long as you start typing ChatGPT, you will see the Tab button to start the ChatGPT conversation. Moreover, the current trial results of foreign media found that this function is not yet available, so it is not yet possible to confirm how practical such an integrated function can be.

But I believe that if Gemini AI can be quickly used directly in the Chrome browser (or even provide a special dialog interface?), it will be a great help for users who love to use the Chrome browser and Google’s own generative AI. Great news!

After all, there has been a demonstration of Edge in the past, and I am looking forward to what different generative AI integration functions Google will provide in the browser. Maybe at the upcoming Google I/O conference, we will see full Gemini integration functions debut!

Friends who want to try it can find the “Expansion pack page for the site” on the “chrome://flags” page to enable this experimental feature – I hope it will work smoothly soon!
