The Food and Drug Administration announced today the latest list of border inspection violations. Imported instant noodles without meat are shipped out again. The tofu kimchi flavor of “Nongshim Super Evolution Xin Bowl Noodles” was found to be in violation of pesticide residues. This batch of packaged goods exceeds 1 metric ton. All returns will be destroyed.

The Food and Drug Administration of the Ministry of Health and Welfare announced the latest list of border inspection violations. A total of 10 products were returned and destroyed. Among them, NONGSHIM SHIN RAMYUN BLACK BOWL (TOFU KIMCHI) of South Korea’s NONGSHIM Nongshim Super Evolution Xin Bowl Noodles (tofu kimchi flavor) was found to have pesticide residues that did not meet the regulations.

Chen Qingyu, section chief of the North District Management Center of the Food and Drug Administration, told the Central News Agency reporter today that the pesticide residues in this Korean instant noodle violated regulations becauseResidual pesticide ethylene oxide was detected in the seasoning powder package of the product. A total of 1128 kg of non-compliant products must be returned or destroyed.

Chen Qingyu said that this Korean instant noodle importer violated the regulations for the first time in the past six months, and will increase the random inspection rate from 2 to 10% to 20 to 50%. According to statistics, there have been 3 batches of pesticides in all instant noodles imported from Korea since last year. Remaining violations, 2 batches of instant noodles do not contain meat, but because the interval has exceeded half a year, it has not yet reached the threshold of 3 batches of unqualified within 2 months, and Korean instant noodles will not be comprehensively upgraded for the time being.

According to statistics from the Food and Drug Administration, from January last year to the present, 32 batches of unqualified imported instant noodles were found in border inspections, including meat and non-meat, and the banned pesticide ethylene oxide was detected. The illegal instant noodles came from Indonesia (13), Vietnam (7), Japan (7), South Korea (3) and the Philippines (2).

Chen Qingyu further explained that at this stage, regardless of industry, the random inspection of imported instant noodles is strengthened, namely, instant noodles with meat imported from Vietnam and instant noodles without meat imported from Japan and Indonesia. The border inspection and random inspection rate of imported products needs to be increased to 20 to 50%. Most of the unqualified imported instant noodles with residues of pesticide ethylene oxide detected this year were found in seasoning packets or ingredient packets.

In addition, two batches of Japanese strawberries were found to contain pesticide residues that did not meet the regulations. The Japanese strawberries weighing more than 454 kilograms were 109.1 kilograms and 345.6 kilograms respectively. They must be returned or destroyed according to regulations. Chen Qingyu explained that it was the first time in the past six months that these two importers had non-compliance with the regulations.

Chen Qingyu mentioned that strawberry pesticides imported from Japan were unqualified, and the situation was more serious than before in the last production season. Therefore, in this production season, since November last year, the inspection rate has been strengthened by 20 to 50%, regardless of the importer. The unqualified situation of importers in the latest production season was originally concentrated on one operator, but in the follow-up, about two additional operators violated the regulations.

In response to the latest violations of Japanese strawberry border inspections, Chen Qingyu said that since the end of last year and the beginning of this year, the random inspection model has been adjusted. In addition to maintaining the existing regulations, further preventive measures have been taken. 100% random inspection, it is expected that preventive measures will be implemented until March this year.
