Ukraine’s defense ministry released a video on Monday showing footage before the unmanned vessel collided with the Russian surveillance ship Ivan Hurs.
CNN reported that the Russian Defense Ministry first stated on the 24th that the “Ivan Heuss” was attacked by three Ukrainian unmanned speedboats but failed, and then released a video of the sinking of the enemy speedboat. Unexpectedly, things turned around. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine released a video on social media on the 25th, which showed the process of the speedboat crashing into the “Ivan Heus” from a first-person perspective. There are discrepancies in the statement.
According to the previous statements of Russian Ministry of Defense spokesman Igor Konashenkov, who mentioned that “all enemy ships were destroyed by a Russian ship 140 kilometers northeast of the Bosphorus”, emphasizing that ” The Evan Hearth will continue its mission.
However, this newly exposed video was shot by a camera placed on a speedboat, which shows that the ship is approaching the target at high speed. After CNN analysis, it is determined that the target ship is probably the “Evan Hess”. The front end of the unmanned speedboat similar to that seen in the video released by the Russian Ministry of Defense was photographed.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense also stated in a tweet that “when the Russian reconnaissance ship “Ivan Heuss” met the Ukrainian unmanned vehicle, it was a perfect match!”.
It is not yet clear how the impact occurred and how much damage the scout ship may have suffered in the attack. CNN has reached out to Ukrainian sources for more details but has yet to hear back.
