Taichung Liuchuan Rotary Club’s “Water Environment Promotion Service Plan” has achieved fruitful results | Industry Hotspots | Industry

In order to promote water resources culture, Taichung Liuchuan Rotary Club took the initiative to apply for adoption from the Liuchuan Water Culture and Environmental Education Center to be responsible for the water tour activities in Liuchuan. This “water environment promotion service plan” has achieved fruitful results. The Rotary Club of Yanagawa emphasizes that it is committed to promoting environmental education and hopes to let more people understand the maintenance of water resources and take care of urban rivers.

Liuchuan is the river that nurtured Taichung’s urban culture. Due to urbanization, Liuchuan began to suffer from household sewage, domestic sewage and other pollution. In order to solve the urban river problem, the city government established a sewage purification plant and a water environment resources education center under Zhongzheng Park.

From 2012 to 2013, Yanagawa Rotary Club, under the leadership of president Chen Yanfu and board of directors, continued to invest in water environment education in Yanagawa in the spirit of Rotary service, and donated relevant equipment to Yanagawa Water Culture and Environmental Education Center, hoping to provide citizens with more information. With a good environmental experience, we hope to work with the public sector to contribute to the sustainable development of Taichung City’s water resources culture.

The Rotary Club of Yanagawa, in conjunction with the Yanagawa Water Culture and Environmental Education Center, has successively held 10 “Come to Yanagawa Seven Peach” water culture and environment tours to promote water environment education, which has been widely praised. Among the participating members, in addition to young and middle-aged students from Nanhu Social University and Wuquan Social University, there were also high school students from Taichung No. 2 Middle School and many children from elementary schools and kindergartens around Liuchuan.

Under the guidance of the tour guide, everyone learned about the tasks of the Yanagawa Zhongzheng Water Purification Site: the 3.5-kilometer civil sewage from Jiushe Park to Zhongzheng Park, and the commercial sewage along the surrounding coast. In addition to setting up 40 sewage interceptions Point, we process 20,000 metric tons of sewage every day, turning it into water with minimal pollution and flowing to the sea, doing our part to contribute to the global environment we live in.

At the same time, students were also led into the working space of the Zhongzheng Water Purification Plant, which is inaccessible to the general public. In addition to the old and new memories of Yanagawa shown through the creative ideas of the designers, they also learned about the interior of the water purification plant, including the blast chamber, aeration tank and For major water purification facilities such as sedimentation tanks, chemicals such as sodium hypochlorite and defoaming agents are used in front of the water outlet to neutralize pollutants in the sewage and then discharge them, reducing environmental impact.

In addition, through the colorful painting of Yanagawa’s clear water and beautiful scenery, teachers with cyanotype experience were invited to reshape Yanagawa’s reputation as a little Kyoto in those days. Through the creative presentation and sketching of students and participants, the new Yanagawa low-environmental impact construction method was used along the coast. The landscaping and water features are presented through drawings combined with the cyanotype technique, so that each frame of the cyanotype works and the creative concepts of the participants are perfectly presented. The satisfaction and reputation of each event continues to rise with the increase in the number of events.

Looking forward to the future, Chen Yanfu said that Yanagawa Rotary Club will still uphold its responsibility to promote water resources and environmental education. It will not only support such meaningful activities with private power, but also gather members to cooperate with the public sector to fully promote and continue to manage people’s love for water. Citizens are invited to participate in activities related to loving and cherishing water.
