Affected by the front, Kaohsiung began to rain heavily yesterday evening (25th), and there were reports of flooding, toppling of road trees and other disasters. The rain gradually stopped early this morning (26th), but the flooding in the dormitories of National Sun Yat-sen University has not receded. The students were so devastated that they laughed at themselves as if they were living in a water park. After an inspection, the school found that the drainage hole on the terrace was blocked, resulting in insufficient drainage. In addition, this morning, there were also reports of a tree hitting someone on the road and killing someone in the Qingcheng Lake Scenic Park. At present, it has been temporarily decided to close the park for a week for cleaning.

This morning (26th), a 66-year-old man surnamed Li was accidentally hit by a road tree when he was walking in Chengcheng Lake Park. He was rushed to the hospital and died. The seventh district management office of Taiwan Water Company stated that the earthquake and recent fronts caused severe damage. Rainfall has caused the soil to loosen. For safety reasons, the park will be closed for a week for a comprehensive cleanup. It is not expected to reopen until May 3 when it is safe.

In addition, Wuling No. 2 Village, the dormitory of Sun Yat-sen University, was also flooded by heavy rains. Many students were busy clearing away the stagnant water, but they laughed at themselves as if they were living in a water park. The school said that before the heavy rain forecast, the General Affairs Office issued a reminder on the 24th to inspect and clean the attic. The dormitory cleaning staff also cleaned drainage holes and drainage ditches on the roof to remove debris and other debris. However, a drainage hole on a terrace in Wuling No. 2 Village was missed, which caused the massive flooding. The school also apologized for this.
