(Mainstream media reporter Wu Minci/Tainan report) A tour group of 39 people from New Taipei City recently traveled to Tainan. A diarrhea cluster occurred after lunch in Baihe District, and a suspected food poisoning incident occurred. The Tainan City Government Health Bureau immediately conducted an investigation on the day it received the notification and completed relevant specimen sampling. The test results were announced today.

The Health Bureau stated that a total of 6 food specimens, 6 environmental specimens, and 19 kitchen worker specimens were sampled in this case, and the test results were all negative; norovirus was detected in 4 specimens from diarrhea patients in the tour group, so According to the inspection results, there is no clear direct causal relationship between the whole case and food.

The Health Bureau reminds that one of the characteristics of norovirus is that it is highly contagious. In addition to food and drinking water, the routes of infection also include droplet infection, eating contaminated food or drinks, or contact with people who have used norovirus. Objects, etc. may be infected, and only a very small amount of virus can cause illness.

Therefore, business operators must do self-management and follow the following principles: 1. Wash hands with soap: Since alcohol cannot kill norovirus, hands should be washed with soap after using the toilet and before preparing food. 2. Thoroughly wash and thoroughly heat: Avoid using untreated water to clean food and utensils. All foods should be thoroughly washed and thoroughly heated. Do not eat raw fish and shellfish.

3. Personnel health management: Personnel with gastrointestinal symptoms should temporarily stop working in food handling and may not resume work until 48 hours after symptoms subside. 4. Environmental hygiene: Use 1000ppm bleach (200CC 5% bleach + 10 liters of water) for disinfection. If it is contaminated by vomit or excrement, please cover it with a cloth and pour 5000ppm bleach (1000CC 5% bleach + 10 liters) water) and let it sit for 30 minutes before processing.

Tainan Mayor Huang Weizhe said that Baihe is not only famous for its hot springs, but also local delicacies such as chicken in jars and buckets of chicken. Visitors are advised to enjoy it with peace of mind. The Health Bureau will continue to monitor the situation for the public. If the public has any questions about food safety and hygiene, please call the consumer service hotline: 0800-285000, and someone will be at your service.
