A while ago, Apple announced that it would open a game emulator to the App Store. Within a day, the emulator iGBA was launched. However, developer Riley Testut complained that iGBA was a copycat version of his previously released emulator GBA4iOS, which caused controversy and was soon criticized. Apple removed from shelves.Following the controversy, the Delta game emulator launched by the official developer of GBA4iOS has been made available on the App Store for potential users outside the EU.

After the Delta simulator was put on the shelves, it immediately scored well in the free APP rankings of App Stores in various countries. For Taiwan, it currently ranks sixth.

All-in-one Nintendo emulator

Delta from Testut Tech claims to be an all-in-one iOS emulator. As a follow-up product to GBA4iOS, it is mainly aimed at users who want to play Nintendo game ROMs (especially portable Nintendo game console ROMs) on iPhone.

Supported game systems include GameBoy Color, GameBoy Advance, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 64, Super NES and Nintendo Entertainment System, and more game consoles will obviously be supported in the future.

As many people expect from an emulator, Delta also supports many game controllers, including Nintendo Switch Pro controllers, Nintendo Switch Online controllers, iOS-supported Sony and Microsoft game console controllers, MFi controller support, and other Bluetooth and Wired keyboard. The app also offers support for various cheat code systems, save states, synchronization between devices, and support for four-player local multiplayer.

Delta is now free to download and use and requires an iPhone or iPod Touch running iOS 14.0 or higher, or an Apple Silicon Mac or Apple Vision Pro running macOS 11.0 or higher. However, as with other emulators, users need to find the games they want to play and make sure they do so in a legal manner.

Delta’s arrival follows a series of recent developments in App Store policies, legal changes and some controversy.

The first round of emulators started hitting the App Store on Sunday. This comes after Apple revised its App Store Audit Guidelines, changing a rule that effectively banned the submission of console and classic game emulators. Less than a day later, the emulator iGBA was removed from the App Store after Delta developer Riley Testut complained that it was a knockoff of the previously released emulator GBA4iOS.

Testut’s AltStore account on X confirms that the emulator’s App Store listing is genuine, which is how non-EU users can download the emulator.

AltStore PAL is an Apple-approved third-party app store available only in the European Union.

AltStore PAL takes advantage of the European Digital Markets Act, which effectively forces Apple to allow third-party app storefronts.
